SUMMARY:

The Merchandise Planner owns and drives all merchandise planning responsibilities for one or more brands in the Americas region.  This is a high impact role as a strategic advisor and partner to a regional merchant. The Planner interfaces regularly with planning peers in other regions across our wholesale, retail and ecommerce channels as well as the sourcing and regional supply chain teams.

 

The Merchandise Planner’s primary responsibilities include:

  1. Execute all merchandise planning activities for brand(s)/region
  2. Serve as the brand/region subject matter expert as an advocate for the region’s product and delivery requirements within the overall line architecture and alignment to the global assortments and go to market strategy
  3. Act as a regional merchant’s primary Planning partner and contact
  4. Provide cross-channel support and oversight for key retail and ecommerce pre and in-season activities

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-Season:

  • Develop seasonal sales and margin targets by brand/product/category/segment
  • Provide input into the hindsighting and insighting processes
  • Influence and guide the regional line architecture, including style and option count goals that include region specific product needs
  • Quantify and provide ranking guidance to support initial merchant style forecasts
  • Provide product lifecycle, delivery flow and size scale recommendations
  • Acquire and aggregate all necessary data to support the creation of seasonal dashboards
  • Work across all channels within the region to consolidate style forecasts.  Subsequently identify and resolve sales, margin, inventory and productivity variances
  • Provide seasonal business recommendations on assortment planning
  • Segmentation visibility between inline, speed to market, supplements, collabs and long-life cycle product by delivery window

 

 

In-Season:

  • Manage the seasonal open-to-buy (OTB) process and place guardrails around seasonal budgets to ensure alignment with inventory purchasing, line architecture, and seasonal revenue targets
  • Lead seasonal buy review meetings to outline buy quantities by material and generate consensus with cross-functional partners surrounding risk/opportunity, upcharges, safety stock, drop recommendations, and delivery changes
  • Provide reforecasting visibility during each buy cycle by style-option to determine the appropriate flow and cadence of future purchases against the OTB
  • Support and participate in regional buy committee meetings, including the preparation of all approval dashboards
  • Facilitate communication with brand merchandising teams on special make-up, speed-to-market, newness injections, collaborations tracking and overall impact to the inline assortment
  • Manage in-season inventory productivity and profitability for the wholesale channel while working collaboratively with retail and ecommerce planners to improve overall business performance
  • Resolve purchase order issues:
    • Provide transparency to all MOQ/upcharges with brand regional merchandising teams to determine financial impact while preserving brand seasonal stories
    • Continue to drive direct selling strategies aligned to brand global and regional assortments created during the in-season milestone meetings.  Support key categories/styles and ensure all brand seasonal go to market assortments remain intact during the purchasing season

 

 

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • 3+ years experience in forecasting, planning, buying, &/or demand planning in a multi-branded, multi-channel, international environment preferred
  • Degree in Business or related field
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze data to develop financially based merchandising insights and opportunities
  • Ability to consult, communicate and influence across range of people
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate information from different sources
  • Ability to work in a dynamic work environment
  • Proficient in English

 

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • Experience in Specialty Apparel Merchandise Planning preferred
